Everyone who has received the Lord as their personal Lord and saviour has been called by God to fulfil the vision and the purpose of being on earth. In the book of John 1:12, the bible says, “to as many as receive him, to them gave the power to become sons of God.
This practically means that the exact nature of God is what we have the moment we give our lives to him; this means that we do exactly what he wants us to do and live how he wants us to live.
In the book of 2 Corinthians 5:18, it says, “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation”, this is the call for every believer. We need to understand that the reason why God called is so that we can call others. It is not for us to just come to him for prosperity or house or spouse or children. The main purpose of our belief in God and Christianity is to call others to come and have the life that we have which is eternal life.
We can observe this when Jesus met the woman of Samaria at the well. John 4: 28-30, “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that I ever did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came to him”.
This is exactly what God wants us to understand, that coming to Christ is not for self-aggrandisement but to reach out to other people. As soon as the woman at the well got saved, she went out to call out to others that they will come and receive everlasting life as she has done.
More so, in Luke 10:1, “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come”. This is what he had commissioned us to do, to call others like we have been called.
When the seventy returned rejoicing, he told them not to rejoice because they cast out devils, but that their names are written in heaven because winning souls is God’s heartbeat.
He first called the twelve, called the seventy and then called us. Matthew 28: 19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”.
This is the call, the great commission for he that winneth soul is wise!
